Amber Necklace Information
Each necklace is made on Silk thread if purchased pre made from Lithuania and the Amber Necklaces that are made here in Australia are made on a stronger silk/nylon blend. They are all individually knotted between each bead so that if the necklace breaks due to force then only one bead would actually come off the necklace. The weakest point being the traditional screw clasps that is used so in most cases this is the breaking point. (please note that all small parts on any item purchased for the use on children could be a choking hazard. We recommend that supervision be taken at all times) Our necklaces and anklets are made for Children over 36 months.
The amber beads are a fossilized resin from ancient forests, approx 40 million years old. Amber is not produced from tree sap, but rather from plant resin. The resin has gone through a number of changes over millions of years. The result of this metamorphosis is an exceptional gem with extraordinary properties. The Baltic Amber we purchase comes in a raw form, which has the highest succinic acid content. Our amber regardless of colour or shade all contains the approx same quantity of succinic acid and therefore they all work the same way with each necklace. It is believed that the succinic acid in amber is the reason for its wonderful affectiviness.
Baltic Amber necklaces are not made for the chewing and sucking on, we do not reccomend the use of them for under 36 months.
For safety reasons and ongoing amber care we recommend that you keep the amber beads out of your little ones mouth at all times. We do not encourage the wearing of amber bead necklaces during sleep in case it becomes a choking hazard. Always supervise the wearing of the necklaces to ensure the safety of your precious children.

Amber Acid or Succinic Acid
Baltic amber contains 3-8% of succinic acid, a scientifically examined medical substance used in contemporary medicine. The highest content of the acid is found in the amber cortex--the external layer of the stone. Therefore, nuggets and amber goods (necklaces, bracelets and pendants) made from non-ground or little ground raw material should be used for therapeutic and bactericidal purposes. All Amber neckalces that we sell are made from RAW amber and they all contain the same amount of Succinic acid.
Any website that claims lighter coloured amber or butter coloured amber has a higher succinic content is misleading. This is not true - all colours and all amber from the Baltic region contain approx same amount of succinic acid.
Recent scientific research has also proved that succinic acid has a very positive influence on the human organism. It strengthens the body, improves immunity, the course of energy-related processes and the balance of acids. Succinic acid was analyzed by the pioneer of modern bacteriology, the Nobel Prize winner, Robert Kock (1886), who confirmed its positive influence and discovered that there is no risk of the accumulation of surplus amounts of succinic acid in the human organism, even after the introduction of considerable amounts into the body.
Amber is fossilized tree resin (not sap), which has been appreciated for its color and natural beauty since Neolithic times. Amber is used as an ingredient in perfumes, as a healing agent in folk medicine, and as jewelry. There are five classes of amber, defined on the basis of their chemical constituents.
Because it originates as a soft, sticky tree resin, amber sometimes contains animal and plant material as inclusions.

All jewellery has been made using the best quality materials that we are able to source, however children should always be SUPERVISED whilst wearing jewellery. Extra special care must be taken with children under the age of 5 years as all jewellery has small components which can cause a CHOKING HAZARD. We recommend that all jewellery be removed prior to sleeping, and other occasions where the child may be left alone. If you choose to select an item that is not knotted, then these items are not for under 5 years old.
